Gina Duggan is a self taught Irish artist who uses oil paint to create vibrant, detailed wildlife pieces. Despite growing up with a love and passion for art, she pursued science in university, obtaining a PhD in molecular biology and moving to London for a time before returning to Ireland. London’s thriving, eclectic art scene combined with Ireland’s beautiful wildlife rekindled her affinity for painting and she picked up a paintbrush again in 2019. Based in Dublin, her main subject matter is wildlife and domestic animals. She works in the veterinary sciences field which often inspires and influences her art. Through the use of oil paints, her main goal is to capture the vitality of each animal, layering colours and applying detail to achieve realistic paintings with a distinctive, bright twist.
