Kate Plum is a professional visual artist based in Tralee, co.Kerry. She studied graphic design, advertising and fine arts. For many years Kate worked only digitally but her true passion is in classical ways of expression like drawing and painting. Currently, she works with watercolours and acrylics. Her most favorite subjects to paint are animals, wild alongside with the common ones but especially birds in any kind. Kate says: “We have become time poor to observe, listen and enjoy the simplicity of the nature. With my art I'd love to reintroduce people to the nature and showcase its beauty and uniqueness.”. Her work is particularly pertinent at a time when the world is becoming increasing conscious of biodiversity loss and the extinction of species. She draws our eye to the beauty of the animals and wild life around us, awakening our hearts to take action. Kate is a member of Visual Artists Ireland (VAI) and International Watercolour Society (IWS). She was exhibiting nationally and internationally. We could see her paintings in Royal Ulster Academy of Arts in Belfast, Siamsa Tire in Tralee, RUA Red Gallery in Dublin and national art festivals (e.g. K-Fest in co.Kerry, Westival in co.Mayo). Also she takes part in annual charity exhibition "INCOGNITO” placed in Dublin and Cork. In January 2020 her image "Tranquillity" was announced the winner of "Art & Dignity" competition organized by University Hospital Kerry in conjunction with the Irish Hospice Foundation.
