Leonard Sexton is based in Skerries, Co. Dublin. He employs emotionally-charged brushstrokes in his oil paintings to depict the sea, the city and the figure.
His paintings take inspiration from the poetic quality of light he sees in the world around him and the joy and the pathos he feels about our shared human experience.
An instinctive painter, Sexton in his work attempts to transfer and translate the energy of consciousness and emotion into the language of color.
Each painting can be likened to the orchestra. Brushstrokes sing or scream at will as the music of color is explored and reaches out to make new sounds and take the power and possibilities of itself one step further and closer to the essence of what it is to be alive.
His artwork has been exhibited extensively over the last thirty years and features in hundreds of collections.
