  • Goddess Brigid was the daughter of Dagda and one of the most important of Celtic deities. A patron goddess of poets, healers and smiths. She was known as the Flame of Ireland and goddess of the forge.
    The paintings depicts Brigid as the woman of wisdom and inspiration. She is holding a lantern, symbolising her casting the light of inspiration in the scene.
    The composition is built as a window of the art studio, with Emperor moth being drawn to the light.
    Brigid’s appearance is the one of calm and serenity, whilst the artist seems to be thrown amidst turmoil and creative passion.
