LOSS is a self-portrait study in charcoal and white pencil expressing a moment of sadness after the loss of my mother who was a very significant person in my life. The photos for this piece were taken a couple of months after the loss and were my first attempt at creating a composition again afterwards. I find art not only a means to observe and express others experiences but to express my own feelings no matter how raw.
