Where the Land Listens to the Sea is a new exhibition by Irish artist Róisín O’Farrell, bringing together richly textured landscapes from Ireland and Malta with her much-loved domestic interiors.
Painted in oils with O’Farrell’s distinctive palette-knife technique, the works move between open coastline, sun-warmed land and rooms filled with books, patterned chairs, flowers and familiar objects. Though outwardly different, each painting considers the same quiet question: what makes a place feel known to us?
The landscapes hold weather, distance and the physical memory of travel. The interiors offer another kind of geography, shaped by shelter, ritual and the accumulated stories of everyday life.
Rather than holding a traditional exhibition opening, O’Farrell will paint live in The Doorway Gallery on Culture Night, Friday 19 September, offering visitors the rare opportunity to watch a painting develop in real time.
The exhibition runs from 14 to 20 September at The Doorway Gallery, Dublin.
