This week we are launching new works by Roisin O’Farrell and her show will be called ‘Families like us’.
The show will be a lockdown show, held in a pop-up gallery space in Stillorgan shopping centre and Rosin will be painting live in the shop, behind closed doors. The venue is essentially a glass box (Kiosk) that allows viewers to stroll around 360 to view the work safely from outside. Rosin will be inside during painting on Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm and you are welcome to come and watch.
All of the paintings can also be viewed and purchased online.
“For many years I have painted a series of welly boot paintings that represent families. They are family portraits if you will. The majority of the welly boot paintings that I paint, that are not commissions, have a Mum and Dad and two kids in them.
That type of family is just as valid as any other, but those paintings don’t include the many and varied other types of family. So in this exhibition I want to put that right.
In this ‘Familes Like Us’ show I’ve made an effort to represent different kinds of families.
Bigger families, smaller families, same sex couples, single Mums and Dads. In fact I simply couldn’t represent all of the variety of different, unique, loving and wonderful families but I’ve made a start! “Rosin O’Farrell
