The Doorway Gallery is delighted to host an exclusive show by Eithne Roberts entitled Tableau”. The show will officially be launched on Thursday November 2nd at 6 -7.30pm, at No. 24 South Frederick St, and is scheduled to run until November 23rd.

“Before I start a painting I collect up small familiar objects and pieces and arrange them before me on a small table.  I lay out these little bowls, cups and jugs taking time to organize them into a composition that pleases me, arranging and rearranging the little characters.  Standing back when satisfied I now start my painting but more than often find that the setting before me rarely makes it to the canvas. At some stage in the process the paint itself takes over and as colours and shapes appear they start to connect with each other and become participants in the still and silent scene. Cups and jugs and little bowls, with stems and small bright flowers that lean in to each other, each one becoming a motionless figure in the story that emerges on the canvas.” Eithne Roberts

Prior to Eithne’s completion of her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Art, Eithne had studied ceramics. It was through Eithne’s painting of ceramics as a subject matter, that led her to the evolvement of her unique artistic style. Using simple and repetitive motifs, painted primarily with a palette knife, the surface of the canvas is worked with different layers and decorative elements, added by scraping back through the muted colours.

Eithne now enjoys a reputation as one of Ireland’s fastest growing Artists, exclusive to the Doorway Gallery in Dublin. The Doorway Gallery have exhibited her work in many art fairs abroad and Eithne has already committed to a number of shows with the gallery for 2018, including New York.
