The Doorway Gallery is delighted to host an exhibition by Dave West called ‘Vespertine’. “I have always been fascinated by places so it was only natural that in my artistic career I should gravitate to landscape painting. I love to explore new places, particularly the sense of mystery and intrigue that exists in each unknown place and the experiences we have when those spaces are experienced through the lens of atmosphere, weather and their unique light effects." Dave West Dave West was born and raised in South Wales and is now an Irish Citizen living in North County Dublin. He has been a full-time artist for almost 20 years. During that time his work has developed in different ways but always with a strong focus on Landscape and Still Life. He paints outdoors much of the time and takes part in plein air painting festivals as both participant and tutor, having won the Gold Mayoral Award at the international Art in the Open festival in 2017. His work is regularly represented at most of Ireland and the U.K’s most prestigious open submission shows and societies including the Royal Hibernian and Royal Ulster Academies, The New English art Club and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of British Artists. Dave has recently been accepted to the Royal Academy of Arts, London.
The Doorway Gallery will be hosting weekly online exhibitions called ‘Getting to know you’. We feel that people now have time to get to know our artists. Some of our artists haven’t had solo shows with the gallery yet , so we thought it would be nice to give you an insight to the artist lifestyle and to be able to really get to know The Doorway Gallery Artists. We want you to experience the journey that the painting makes before it hits the gallery setting. We want to show you the artist studios and the works the masterpieces that are in the making. We will also do a live questions & answers night on out social media platforms with the Artists. This will allow you to ask them anything you wish to know about them. Some of our artists are currently working towards solo shows so the work is ready in their studio so we will get a sneak preview and a chance to discuss the ideas behind the works with the artists in a intimate setting and no interruptions. We always work three years ahead and all of our artists are busy preparing for these international art fairs. They are building up their masterpieces, so we have plenty to show you!
